Report on the "Live Broadcast" Celebrant Cardinal Dr. Peter R. Edwards DM, DRTh, KnStF, AD Patriarch of Yeshua International & Archbishop of All of England 7th March 2010 at 11 a.m. The Third Sunday In Lent The Fourth Sunday before Easter
The service started with a sentence from scripture The Readings Old Testament: Genesis 22 vs. 1 - 13 Gen 22:1 Some time later God tested Abraham; he called to him, "Abraham!" And Abraham answered, "Yes, here I am!" Gen 22:2 “Take your son," God said, "your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me." Gen 22:3 Early the next morning Abraham cut some wood for the sacrifice, loaded his donkey, and took Isaac and two servants with him. They started out for the place that God had told him about. Gen 22:4 On the third day Abraham saw the place in the distance. Gen 22:5 Then he said to the servants, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there and worship, and then we will come back to you." Gen 22:6 Abraham made Isaac carry the wood for the sacrifice, and he himself carried a knife and live coals for starting the fire. As they walked along together, Gen 22:7 Isaac spoke up, "Father!" He answered, "Yes, my son?" Isaac asked, "I see that you have the coals and the wood, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?" Gen 22:8 Abraham answered, "God himself will provide one." And the two of them walked on together. Gen 22:9 When they came to the place which God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son and placed him on the altar, on top of the wood. Gen 22:10 Then he picked up the knife to kill him. Gen 22:11 But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, "Abraham, Abraham!" He answered, "Yes, here I am." Gen 22:12 “Don't hurt the boy or do anything to him," he said. "Now I know that you honour and obey God, because you have not kept back your only son from him." Gen 22:13 Abraham looked around and saw a ram caught in a bush by its horns. He went and got it and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son. New Testament: Colossians 1 vs. 24 - End Col 1:24 And now I am happy about my sufferings for you, for by means of my physical sufferings I am helping to complete what still remains of Christ's sufferings on behalf of his body, the church. Col 1:25 And I have been made a servant of the church by God, who gave me this task to perform for your good. It is the task of fully proclaiming his message, Col 1:26 which is the secret he hid through all past ages from all human beings but has now revealed to his people. Col 1:27 God’s plan is to make known his secret to his people, this rich and glorious secret which he has for all peoples. And the secret is that Christ is in you, which means that you will share in the glory of God. Col 1:28 So we preach Christ to everyone. With all possible wisdom we warn and teach them in order to bring each one into God's presence as a mature individual in union with Christ. Col 1:29 To get this done I toil and struggle, using the mighty strength which Christ supplies and which is at work in me. Gospel Reading: Luke 9 vs. 18 - 27 Luke 9:18 And it came about that when he was in prayer, by himself, and the disciples were with him, he put a question to them, saying, Who do the people say I am? Luke 9:19 And they, answering, said, John the Baptist; but others say Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets has come back. Luke 9:20 And he said, But who do you say that I am? And Peter, answering, said, The Christ of God. Luke 9:21 But he gave them special orders, not to say this to any man; Luke 9:22 Saying, The Son of man will undergo much and be put on one side by the rulers and the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and be put to death, and on the third day he will come back to life. Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man has a desire to come after me, let him give up all, and take up his cross every day, and come after me. Luke 9:24 For whoever has a desire to keep his life will have it taken from him, but whoever gives up his life because of me, will keep it. Luke 9:25 For what profit will a man have if he gets all the world, but undergoes loss or destruction himself? Luke 9:26 For if any man has a feeling of shame because of me or of my words, the Son of man will have shame because of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:27 But truly I say to you, Some of those who are here now will have no taste of death till they see the kingdom of God. The Sermon Today’s sermon focused on instructions we received from God. Also places on earth where there is great turmoil. The bold steps we take in our daily lives. The service continued with prayers.
