Report on the "Live Broadcast"

Celebrant

Cardinal Dr. Peter R. Edwards DM, DRTh, KnStF, AD

Patriarch of Yeshua International & Archbishop of All of England

 7th March 2010 at 11 a.m.

The Third Sunday In Lent

The Fourth Sunday before Easter

The service started with a sentence from scripture

The Readings

Old Testament: Genesis 22 vs. 1 - 13

Gen 22:1 Some time later God tested Abraham; he called to him, "Abraham!" And Abraham answered, "Yes, here I am!"

Gen 22:2 “Take your son," God said, "your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me."

Gen 22:3 Early the next morning Abraham cut some wood for the sacrifice, loaded his donkey, and took Isaac and two servants with him. They started out for the place that God had told him about.

Gen 22:4 On the third day Abraham saw the place in the distance.

Gen 22:5 Then he said to the servants, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there and worship, and then we will come back to you."

Gen 22:6 Abraham made Isaac carry the wood for the sacrifice, and he himself carried a knife and live coals for starting the fire. As they walked along together,

Gen 22:7 Isaac spoke up, "Father!" He answered, "Yes, my son?" Isaac asked, "I see that you have the coals and the wood, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?"

Gen 22:8 Abraham answered, "God himself will provide one." And the two of them walked on together.

Gen 22:9 When they came to the place which God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son and placed him on the altar, on top of the wood.

Gen 22:10 Then he picked up the knife to kill him.

Gen 22:11 But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, "Abraham, Abraham!" He answered, "Yes, here I am."

Gen 22:12 “Don't hurt the boy or do anything to him," he said. "Now I know that you honour and obey God, because you have not kept back your only son from him."

Gen 22:13 Abraham looked around and saw a ram caught in a bush by its horns. He went and got it and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

New Testament: Colossians 1 vs. 24 - End

Col 1:24  And now I am happy about my sufferings for you, for by means of my physical sufferings I am helping to complete what still remains of Christ's sufferings on behalf of his body, the church.

Col 1:25 And I have been made a servant of the church by God, who gave me this task to perform for your good. It is the task of fully proclaiming his message,

Col 1:26  which is the secret he hid through all past ages from all human beings but has now revealed to his people.

Col 1:27 God’s plan is to make known his secret to his people, this rich and glorious secret which he has for all peoples. And the secret is that Christ is in you, which means that you will share in the glory of God.

Col 1:28 So we preach Christ to everyone. With all possible wisdom we warn and teach them in order to bring each one into God's presence as a mature individual in union with Christ.

Col 1:29 To get this done I toil and struggle, using the mighty strength which Christ supplies and which is at work in me.

 Gospel Reading: Luke 9 vs. 18 - 27

Luke 9:18  And it came about that when he was in prayer, by himself, and the disciples were with him, he put a question to them, saying, Who do the people say I am?

Luke 9:19 And they, answering, said, John the Baptist; but others say Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets has come back.

Luke 9:20 And he said, But who do you say that I am? And Peter, answering, said, The Christ of God.

Luke 9:21 But he gave them special orders, not to say this to any man;

Luke 9:22  Saying, The Son of man will undergo much and be put on one side by the rulers and the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and be put to death, and on the third day he will come back to life.

Luke 9:23  And he said to them all, If any man has a desire to come after me, let him give up all, and take up his cross every day, and come after me.

Luke 9:24 For whoever has a desire to keep his life will have it taken from him, but whoever gives up his life because of me, will keep it.

Luke 9:25 For what profit will a man have if he gets all the world, but undergoes loss or destruction himself?

Luke 9:26  For if any man has a feeling of shame because of me or of my words, the Son of man will have shame because of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Luke 9:27  But truly I say to you, Some of those who are here now will have no taste of death till they see the kingdom of God.

Luke 22 vv 17 - 20

Holy Communion

A Celebration of The Lord's Supper

Priest:     The peace of the Lord be always with you

ALL:       And Also with you

ALL:

  •     Almighty God, Unto whom all hearts be open, All desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid:  cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your Holy Name;  through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Priest says a COLLECT appropriate for the day

  •     There now follows readings and intercessions for the day & week ahead including The Nicene Creed (The Statement of What We Believe As A Church).

Reader:             This is the Word of the Lord

ALL:           THANKS BE TO GOD

THE NICENE CREED

(The Statement of What We Believe As A Church)

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of Heaven and Earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For the People and for our Salvation
He came down from Heaven;
by the Power of the Holy Spirit
He became incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake He was crucified under
Pontius Pilate;
He suffered death and was buried.

On the third day He rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and His Kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one Holy Catholic
and Apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one Baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Priest:

  •     Seeing we have a great high Priest who has passed into the Heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith and make our confession to our Heavenly Father.

ALL:     The Confession

  •     Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we have sinned against You, through our own fault, in thought, and word, and deed, and in what we have left undone.   We are heartily sorry and repent of all our sins.   For the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may serve You in newness of life to the glory of Your Name. Amen.

Priest:   The Absolution

  •     Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all our sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.  AMEN.

ALL:

  •     We do not presume to come to this Your table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in Your manifold and great mercies.   We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under Your Holy Table.   But You are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy.   Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of Your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink His Blood, that we may evermore dwell in Him and He in us. Amen.

Priest:        The Priest Consecrates the Bread and Wine

  •     Our Lord Jesus Christ on the same night that He was betrayed took Bread and gave You thanks; He broke it, and gave it to His Disciples, saying, take eat; this is My Body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.    In the same way, after supper He took the cup and gave You thanks; He gave it to them, saying, Drink this, all of you; this is My Blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of Me. AMEN.

ALL:

  •     We, who are gathered here are one Body, because we all share in the Bread of Christ.

Priest:   As our Saviour taught us, so we pray:

ALL:    The Lord's Prayer

  •     Our Father in Heaven,

  •         Hallowed be Your Name;

  •     Your Kingdom come;

  •         Your will be done,

  •     On earth as it is in Heaven.

  •         Give us today our daily bread.

  •     Forgive us our sins,

  •         As we forgive those

  •     Who sin against us.

  •         Lead us not into temptation;

  •     But deliver us from evil.

  •         For the Kingdom, the Power,

  •     And the Glory, are Yours,

  •         Now and ever. Amen.

Before the distribution of the Holy Communion the Priest says:

Priest:

  •     Draw near and receive the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for you, and His Blood, which was shed for you. Take this Consecrated Bread and Wine in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on Him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

At the distribution the Priest says:

  •      Receive The Body of Christ,

  •     Receive The Blood of Christ

or

  •     Receive The Body of Christ, may it keep you in eternal life.

  •     Receive The Blood of Christ, may it keep you in eternal life.

    The communicant may reply each time Amen, and then receives.

  • After Holy Communion this or another appropriate prayer is said by the Priest:

ALL:    The Thanksgiving

  •     Almighty God, we thank You for feeding us with the Body and Blood of Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ;  Through Him we offer You our souls and bodies to be a living sacrifice.   Send us out with the power of Your Spirit to live and work for Your Praise and Glory. Amen.

The Priest says a Blessing:

Priest:

  •     The peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and those you love, now and always. Amen.

Priest:             Notices for the coming week

Next "Live Broadcast" is ....

Priest:              Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

ALL:             In the Name of Christ. Amen.
